The Barbara Davis Center for Diabetes is a leader in type 1 diabetes (T1D) research and care, offering comprehensive educational resources to families and health care professionals.
Key Insights:
We recognized the need to balance the clinical expertise of health care providers (HCP) with the emotional support required by families. The program needed to serve as both a reliable medical resource and an empathetic guide, presenting expert knowledge in a way that was accessible to both audiences.
Positioning and Strategy:
We positioned Ask the Experts as a go-to resource for those who screen positive for T1D or celiac, providing authoritative answers and guidance in a reassuring tone. We developed a user-friendly platform, focusing on ease of navigation and accessibility. The content was organized by audience and topic, allowing families and health care providers to quickly find answers to common concerns.
Design Approach:
The brand identity uses the color palette of the University and is designed to convey trust, approachability, and clarity. The icon is meant to convey two stylized talk-bubbles that are also an “A” and “E” for Ask the Experts. Branded collateral and supporting materials were designed for both digital and print formats. HCPs who become site-members gain access to additional resources.
Outcome:
The Ask the Experts platform has become an invaluable resource for families and health care providers, helping both groups feel more confident in monitoring and managing T1D. Positive feedback from users reinforced its status as an authoritative yet compassionate source of support. Health care providers from across the country are actively joining their national network of clinical and research partners.
